They were raised by the rat Splinter, who was made larger and intelligent by the same mutagen that affected the Turtles. But the project was destroyed, and the turtles went underground. The four turtles - Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello - were part of Project Renaissance, which April’s father intended to help save humanity from disease and ruin.

As she investigates the clan, she’s led to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, whose origins tie into the mystery of her father’s death. However, while investigating the Foot, TV journalist April O’Neil (Megan Fox) sees a superstrong vigilante at work stopping the Clan. In the film, the mysterious Foot Clan is the source of lots of crime in New York City, but a recent dip in the crime wave is attributed to William Sacks (William Fichtner) and his technology. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles get rebooted for the 21st century in a new film directed by Jonathan Liebesman and produced by Michael Bay.
